The final cut of our MV turned out to be quite satisfactory, from our perspective. We managed to reach the goals we sought out, taking into account all the research we had done over the course of the year. Our mutual interest and enjoyment of this type of music and conventions proved to be of great use, we understood one another very well while working on this project.
We took into consideration the suggestions of our audience, colour grading the MV to a more neutral, darker tone, attempting to contrast the feel that the music and accompanying visuals provide. We only overlayed lyrics in one instance during the MV, towards the end - we felt this was more impactful and left the viewer with more to take in. However, we mimicked Death Grips’ own video for “No Love”, replicating the freezeframes as we stated we would. This, alongside the posterized, low resolution and pixelated effects we integrated into the clip provided a gritty feel, highlighting our character’s struggle with self and nodding to the original theme the artist chose to explore - a supposed overdose and hard-hitting trip.
Working together, we were able to apply knowledge that we had each separately learned in the AS Level coursework - one of us having done the magazine task, the other the film task. This variation of skill helped us to work efficiently and to learn from each other whilst being able to discuss and explore the topic at hand.
