We asked around, showing a couple different people our music video in the works, asking for unbiased and critical feedback. Upon first impressions, we received mostly positive responses, our viewers stating that they enjoyed our MV and that we managed to imitate the vibe of the song through our visuals.
To our delight, our viewers stated that our character’s “innocent face contrasts the song really well” - exactly what we had in mind when choosing him for our video. They also mentioned their like of the ending of the MV, specifically the stop-motion turnaround of Eduard.
We also received, however, a couple scrutinies of which we were eager to take into consideration. One viewer suggested that we change the colour palette of the MV around a bit, perhaps leaning towards a more greenish overlay. This viewer mentioned that this just “feels more natural”, in contrast to the music and subject matter we’ve portrayed.
Another viewer mentioned that a couple shots felt a bit too shaky - even according to the set vibe of the video. We can stabilise a couple shots according to this viewer’s mention. They further expressed that we could possibly overlay the spoken lyrics over the top of a couple shots, pointing out a few instances in which they personally felt the MV was more bland. This idea works well with our freeze frames already incorporated, seeking out feedback proved very fruitful.
In conclusion, we are grateful for the time and suggestions we received from our viewers - we’ll take everything into consideration while working on the final cut of our MV. Our work delved slightly from how we initially thought, though not necessarily negatively. Overall, this proved a steady and useful learning curve - but the experience we each had prior to our separate work in the AS tasks combined together very nicely.
