Coursework development - Layout design

The layout of the magazine is going to be fairly simple for the most part as to not draw out attention from the main focus of the issue: the photos and text. Since this magazine is more lenient in the artsy direction, the main charm will come from the viewers unique interpretation of the phots and minimalistic text. As a group we decided that this sort of layout will best convey the messages we want to portray in the clearest and most unique form.

The cover is going to consist of one of the photos from the photoshoots, edited of course. The FLAIR logo will be kept on the top right of every issue, having the same size and location, the color being the only variable. The title can also vary positioning however its most probably going to be located under the logo as it creates a nice viewing flow for the reader, that spans from the top left into the bottom right, where the issue number is going to be written. The issue number is going to be the same font, size and located in the same spot on every magazine similarly to the logo.

For each page the photo is going to be the dominant element. We have a couple ideas in mind such as a double page spread with small borders, this simple yet effective layout is most probably going to be used in every issue as it works well with our aesthetic.

Another layout that should be prevalent throughout our issues is going to be a double page with one big picture and a smaller one on the other page. This makes it slightly more dynamic than 2 pictures on 2 pages.

A minimalist design is guaranteed for our issues, this may be considered lackluster on the surface level however it is not. We are only challenging conventions making us stand out and making the reading experience more personal to every single reader as it leaves a lot of room for interpretation due to the decreased amount of writing.
